In my last post, I talked about subjects that men like to talk about on dates, subjects that women can bring up (and some they might avoid) to keep it so that both people aren’t staring at their hands or off into the distance with smoke coming out their ears, trying to think of something to say. Again, thanks to dating site Plenty of Fish, we have a list of topics ladies like to discuss on dates:

6. Friends
7. Travel

10. Entertainment

I italicized all the items that were identical to the items in the list in my previous post, What Do Men Want to Discuss on a Date? (It’s Not a Bad as You’d Think!). How cool is it that there’s this much overlap? Before you read the lists, hadn’t you imagined that the mens’ list would include such atrocities as “cars,” “sports,” “gutting fish,” and “guzzling beer”? And men, hadn’t you thought the ladies’ list would consist of foolishness like “buying shoes she’ll never wear,” “celebrity gossip,” and “makeup tips”? Who can’t discuss travel (whether it’s where you’ve been or where you’d like to go, wonderful or funny vacations you’ve taken, the last movie you’ve seen, your hopes and aspirations (this is where a person’s character is revealed), or what music you like (this is where taste is revealed!)?

See how easy it is now that you’re armed with this information? The next time you’d like to start a conversation (or someone wants to start one with you), be ready with some anecdotes in these categories and you’ll never again be asked whether the cat’s got your tongue!
